Research Objectives

Drawing on the above discussion, this study aims to answer the following questions:

  1. How do Malaysians react to emotion-elicit provocative news which touches on religion, cultural sensitivity and government performance on social media (Facebook and WhatsApp)?
  2. Does reaction to emotion-elicit provocative vary according to need for cognition, perception of subjective norm on reaction towards problematic social media contents, attitudes toward news sharing/discussion, perceived news salience, news literacy, and age group (youth and adult)?
  3. Are the above relationships, if any, moderated by personal motivational values?
